I Have a Question & New Bags

Ok, If anyone has a quick minute...I have a question about my Blogger page.
I am currently using a standard background provided by Blogger.
How do I get a nice coloured back ground ???
And, how do I add Etsy and other favourite blogs down the right hand side?
I would like to jazz this page up a bit, successfully archive my blogs
and in general join
the rest of you with a nice "fancy" blogger page.

New Weezi Sign!

I was lucky enough to have my new sign installed yesterday!


yeh! Weezi in lights.
It looks great AND it lights up at night.


Which is super b/c it is dark at 6:00...somthing I am not thrilled about.
Check it out when you are going North on Richmond St.
It is the small things that keep me happy ;)

Now, I have a bag preview for you.
I wasn't sure about this red vinyl fabric when I got it.
But, now that it is made up I am thrilled!!!!

I love it. It is so fun.
I have to admit, there is nothing like a giant shiny red
tote bag to cheer any gal up.

I will be doing more then one of these.
And, I will sew them up in different sizes.

What is new at Weezi???
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Many apologies for the delay in postings.
I have been sewing like crazy trying to get new items
ready for the new web page.
I have once again banned myself from endless hours
of surfing on line.
Less "mucking" around on the computer and more sewing!
( if you listen closely you can hear the whip crack!)

So...here are a few things that I made this week.

New Kitchen Sink bags.



I call this one the CBC bag b/c the print reminds me of the old CBC logo.


Plaid rules!


I called this on the "stewardess" b/c the colour combo reminded
of stewardess' uniforms from the 70's.

There are some new skirts as well.
I have really into been full skirts this week.
Full circle skirts and skirts that are more full at the hem
rather then at the waist.


This is a Shirley skirt that is super short and super cute.
I also did some that are A-line and some w flounces.


We are open all weekend Pussycats.

Tee Shirt Shopping Bags

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
I know in the last post I said I was in a skirt making frenzy..this IS true.
However....due to my very short attention span I was
distracted by the thought of tee shirt shopping bags.

This is by no means an original idea and it wasn't me who thought
it would be a good idea for me to sew up these bags.
(Thanx Leah!)
But I did agree it was a good idea not to mention fun!
AND!- after some consideration I came up with an idea of how to "Weezi-ize" it.

I started w an old tee to use for the prototype....


(Who knew Pizza Pizza started in 1967????)

The idea that I had that was different from other tee shirt totes was that
I wanted mine to have a "bottom".


The black Loblaws .99 bags are nice b/c you can easily stack stuff
in them because they have a square bottom.
The question was how to do it so it was fast for me to sew and
yet still hold a shape????...
My answer was cardboard.

AND!- cardboard that you can replace .....


We all know cardboard will bend after a while and become creased.
So, I made a pocket on the bottom of the bag that the cardboard will easily slide in and out of.

You can take the cardboard out if you want to wash
the bag AND to replace place it when it looses its firmness.
The added bonus is that you cut up and use cardboard that you have at home
for a new stable bottom...or come back to the Weezi studio and I will
have some precut pieces for you.


This was my final prototype.

These are some of the ones I made last night for sale in the studio...

I "upcycled" some tee shirts and made some from jersey that
I had bought from second hand stores.
I think they came out great..if I may say so! ;)

They are nice and roomy.

Good for things that are fairly light like bags of chips
or boxes of crackers, cookies, pasta or even some veggies.
They will roll up nicely to fit in your bag.

I made 11 so far and they are $14.98 each.

New Weezi Sign and New Weezi Wristlets

I have a new sign for the studio that I am excited to put up...


I just have to put a couple more coats of varathane on it.
My Dad cut it out for me and I think it turned out great.
We are going to hang out right beside the door downstairs.

It has been awhile since I made small bags.
They are a blast to put together.


I had to do crazy colour combos...you know me.


I don't really like to make bags that are plain.

Weezi BacSacs

I have been working on these cute little back backs for the spring.

I came up with this back pack when I first learned I was going to Prague to
meet Milos' friends and family.
I looked all over the place for a cute "spring" back pack to wear.
I wanted something fun and bright and cute..not boring and dull.

I looked EVERYWEAR!...yes...sigh!, even the mall.

Everything I found was either black and brown! Ick!
I wasn't going on my first Euro trip with an ugly brown knapsac in May!
The horror...can you imagine?! Brown in May!!!??

I needed something that would be big enough to carry what I needed to bring w me for a
day of sight seeing but I didn't want it to be too big and cumbersome.

I like to carry a lot w me but I didn't want it to hurt my back...
I had to constantly remind myself it was for day tripping not an excavation into the arctic.

In this bag I would carry my camera, a bottle of water and my wallet.
Little things like a pill case, my glasses, some make up and kleenex.

Short story long...I came up with this bag and worked out great.

( I don't know what I was thinking about the blue and green combo jacket
with the pink back pack...but that is a conversation for another day!
and yes..I was blonde then.)

I am now making them for the studio and the web page.
I don't know why I didn't make them up for you guys sooner.


The ones I am wearing have a shorter strap b/c I am not your average sized gal.


I have some with longer straps for you normal sized gals.
Drawstring at the top and 2 pockets on the inside.

Sigh!- Too bad we aren't in Prague now....

I was on live TV this morning.....

LIVE from London Ontario it's Thursday morning!!!!!!

I was on the A Channel morning show today at a very early 8:15 am!!
Early for me that is!
It went very well.
I would like to say a big Thank You to Jeremy and
Cheryl for making me feel so welcome and showing the interest they did
in my bags and the studio.
It was a lot of fun and I hope I did seem like a "boob".

Milos was kind enough to come w me this morning to help me carry stuff...


He took some "behind the scenes" pics.
I am trying not to look groggy and tired while I wait.


Good thing the spot was only 4 minutes b/c I have a tendency to rattle on ;)


I think the newspaper bags were a big hit.

Me...always talking with my hands.

It is funny to see pictures of your self when you know you are being watched.
You know what I mean??
It isn't the same as looking at party pics or pics taken w your friends.
It feels like you are more exposed somehow..more "naked" feeling.
I don't know how to explain it exactly.


Anyhow..it was a lot of fun and I was thrilled to be asked.
I really enjoyed meeting everyone .

Newspaper Bags and Stuffed Bunnies

Well, I was on a mission Monday to get these
newspaper bags made and after some serious cut and paste...


I made 40 of them.
I will work on making some "waterproof" ones for the spring this week.
I may use something else entirely other then newspaper.
