Sexy Pencil Boxes and a Cute Bird

I have a couple of quick things today to wet your whistle.

I have these handmade wooden "pencil boxes" that are filled with candy.
A ready to go gift!


I have Tank Girl themed box.
They all have a clear plexi-glass lid that slides in and out.
After the candy is all gone it is great for
desk items, changes and keys on a hall table
or even some jewelry and rings.

Help w Wording new Weezi Sign

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
I am working on a new sign for the outside wall that will light up at night.
It will up high on the wall underneath the window above the Diner.

It needs to be short and to the point..not my strong suit.
I just want it to grab people's attention for a second but give them a quick idea of
what is up here.

I am looking for help in how to word it....
Right now I have something like this:





I don't know...my problem is it HAS to simple and I like things cluttered and messy.
To me it looks boring and dull.
I like the font and the proportions have to be worked out but
my concern now is the "message".

I will be trying to reach "you" my lovely customers....does that get the point across?
I am not sure about the word Independently..but if I hear funky again I may loose my lunch!

Any suggestions would be very helpful! I am open to whatever.
I will have to decide in the next 24 hours....grr.

Coasters and Vintage Wicker HandBags

I have been working on many new coaster sets.


I am carefully adding many coats of varnish.
I am currently on the 8th coat and it doesn't seem like enough..



Today I will do 2 more coats.

I LOVE wicker bags for the summer!!

I don't know where this store is but I have to find out...

I was on live TV this morning.....

LIVE from London Ontario it's Thursday morning!!!!!!

I was on the A Channel morning show today at a very early 8:15 am!!
Early for me that is!
It went very well.
I would like to say a big Thank You to Jeremy and
Cheryl for making me feel so welcome and showing the interest they did
in my bags and the studio.
It was a lot of fun and I hope I did seem like a "boob".

Milos was kind enough to come w me this morning to help me carry stuff...


He took some "behind the scenes" pics.
I am trying not to look groggy and tired while I wait.


Good thing the spot was only 4 minutes b/c I have a tendency to rattle on ;)


I think the newspaper bags were a big hit.

Me...always talking with my hands.

It is funny to see pictures of your self when you know you are being watched.
You know what I mean??
It isn't the same as looking at party pics or pics taken w your friends.
It feels like you are more exposed somehow..more "naked" feeling.
I don't know how to explain it exactly.


Anyhow..it was a lot of fun and I was thrilled to be asked.
I really enjoyed meeting everyone .

Newspaper Shopping Bags and Procrastinating
Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Well, we are snowed in today!!

I haven't even considered leaving the house.



I have been online all day putting off working on my patterns.

So, I have been listing the new pics from my brother on Facebook and Flickr
and thinking about making recycled Weezi shopping bags.

I want to come up with a bag for the store instead of buying those
awful and boring white shopping bags.

After much "googling" and thinking and looking online I
came up with the idea of making a shopping bag from newspapers.
We always have tons of them and I want to be good and use
recycled materials.
So, here is my first prototype...


I like how the first one came out. I can do them in many sizes....


I put a plastic grocery bag on the inside to keep the newsprint
off of your new Weezi purchase.

AND- I can use cardboard from empty boxes to reinforce the handles.


In this one there is about 4 layers of newspaper.

I can use fabric scraps for the handles.
You could use them again for something small and light.

Now, they won't last forever but they aren't supposed to.
The idea is give you a recycled bag when you purchase something at me studio
that you can use again a couple of times.
Take out the plastic and cut off the handles and the paper can
put in the blue box.


Now, the big question..
Do you guys like these Weezi bags?

What would you think if I put your Weezi purchase in this bag???
They aren't much good in the rain..but I could come up with a
plan B for that reason.

Anyhow...I would love some feedback from you.
Please let me know what you think.

I think they would be cool on any bag or tote.

BUT- I like the idea of always having your luggage tagged
and ready to go...just in case you have to jet off to Europe at a moments notice!
A gal has to be prepared at all times!!!!

It would help to have his picture on your suitcase.

46 days until spring & Tee Shirt Disasters!

Well today is a mish mash of stuff......

Over the weekend I starting working on a new tee shirt.

This is the horrible sketch of what was in my head.


I CANNOT draw to save my life so I purposely left
this photo blurry and hard to look at.
It is embarrassing for a "designer" but it is a sad fact....
I never could draw and I have to learn to live w it.
Consequently I never sketch..it is all in my wee brain!
Scary thought!

Moving onward .....b/c I tend to "rattle on".

I was all excited!!


I finally got it down to this final fitting which I was really happy with.

I didn't bother w sleeves b/c I knew they would fit fine.

Then I got my pattern a graded and cut out.....


I did do one tee and I HATED it..I picked the worst fabric and it bombed.
Dammit! It was a disaster!
So, I don't have a finished tee to show you....yet.
Give me a couple of days.
They can't all be gems Pussycats!

Hoodies are done ...for now!

I am fianlly done with the hoodies..for this week.


I made 19 in total. Yahoo!
This picture doesn't do them justice but I
was having trouble getting the velour to photograph well.
A lot of them are 3/4 sleeve and they all have large cuffs.
I LUV the large cuff! 4" long. Sweet.

My favourites are the pink and green hoodies.

I made only 2 b/c I only had enough fabric for 2.


I am going to do some tee shirts for the next
couple of days. I am in the mood for knits.

New Jumpers

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Finally after many hours I have finished these new
jumpers in xs-sm-med-lg.


I wasn't sure how many buttons to
put down the front.
4 or 5??
I picked 4.

And as I have mentioned before I
have a renewed love for covered buttons.

Mixed with small gathered pockets
and the obsession is complete.


This jumper is a wool, poly, acrylic blend.

Back zip and 8" flounce.

Inside has a red lining.



Only 4 to be made, one of each size.

Today I did a second version of
the Margo Dress.


Finally, I found the original pattern.
What a great wedding dress....
but for our purposes it makes a damn
great retro inspired dress.



This one is a grey floral combo.




Turned out fabulous!
Same straight cut but
this is one has a slight flare
at the sleeve hem.

Same rolled bias collar.

Great for the gal with fabulous legs
or someone who is trying to hide a tummy.

Again these photos are a teaser.
Will post pics of these dresses
on a real gal very soon.

The Margo Dress

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
I was working on this dress yesterday.
I am calling this dress the Margo Dress.


I did the fittings on myself.
Not much to fit really.
I used an old pattern from the 60's and
they fit quite well as a rule.

I wanted to check on how the sleeve fit (ick)...
and how much shape there was to it
and how the rolled collar sat.


I decided it needed a bit of gathering in the front
to update it a bit.


Everything fit great.I took it in a bit at the sides
to give it a bit more shape.
Very nice.

So, I tried to take a couple pics
to show the finished dress...
Jeeze! I don't know which is worse...
taking pics of red things or black things.

Anyhow...these are just
to wet your whistle as they say.

A straight, loose, 60's cut.
3/4 sleeves
White rolled collar
Small pleats in the center front.
Back zipper.


I really love how these turned out...


I am sorry you can't really see how great they are..
You will just have to come in and see for your self.

As of today 1 small and 1 medium.

Very 60's...a little "Factory Girl"..
a wee bit Jackie O.
Will do more in other colours.

Ok, so I am working on these tank style dresses.
These used to be called the
Tie Me Up Dress b/c
of how they tie in the back.
But- now I think the name is lame and
I think it should have a new one.


Anyhow,I have the green mint dress with the
navy polka dot flower.
I like this one so far....

But- now I have to decide which
flower to choose for the
blue dresses.

This red one...
or

...this pink and yellow one????
I am leaning towards the red flower.

So, it was a minor miracle that I
could actually make a decision but I picked the red flower..

Then the back....hence the tie-up part.

I just need to go and get the ribbon
to tie it up and finish it.
Yellow ribbon ( i think)

The green almost finished...

I will get navy blue ribbon for these ones.

I have been working on one of my
favourite Weezi patterns called
the Swat dress.

(Note: a long time ago when I was wholesaling
I did a spring season catalogue where I named each
piece after a 70's song. There was a Burn Baby Burn Dress....
there was a Jive Talkin' Jacket.
Good times! I thought it was catchy....
some might beg to differ.
Anyhow, long story long... this was the first showing
for the SWAT dress...from the TV show
S.W.A.T...the theme song....never mind!)
(Astrid remember that???)

Anyhow..bad name but the pussycats love the dress.
(thank you!)

So..I am doing more..

I am going to add some kind of red "ruffle"
or gathering to hem.
It doesn't look finished to me.


I love this fabric!

I need to add the gathering at the bottom
to "50's" it up a bit.
I ALWAYS over-do everything
I know...but it looks plain to me.

This is a new Weezi skirt
called the Harriet Skirt.

There will lots of these in different colour ways...

I will put 3 buttons on each side.
But I think they need to be a bit bigger.

So, it has been "skirt city" around here
but I think I am out of practice b/c
things seem to be taking me a long time.
It has been a while since I have been in
mass production mode.
Like I said before, I am all over pink and green.
So, here it was was decision making time...

I voted for pockets in the end.
I am very happy with these!

I don't know what you guys have been up
to during all this great weather....
going to the beach, suntanning, camping
or maybe sipping lovely drinks on a patio???
Well,I am sewing in zippers....kill me.
I LOVE to sew..but I HATE
sewing in zippers.
Just a few that I bought yesterday...ick.



On a more pleasant note..i have been cutting out great
summer skirts with ruffles.

I am soooo into pink and green.


Also, i am slightly obsessed with full 50's like skirts.

These 2 are just a start..i am putting off sewing in the zips ;)

OH! -I guess it is obvious I also
have a wee obsession polka dots.

I got out this lace yesterday..it needs a good home
on a funky slip or something.

As I look towards the fall (yuck!)..
I am highly motivated by the 50's...my favourite decade.

I am inspired by these dresses and intend on having some similar
for my fall line on the webpage and ready to wear.

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!

Ok, so as we were strolling and site seeing during our time
in CZ I tried to capture some great looks with my camera.
It was more difficult then I thought it would be.
Next year we need a video camera or a VERY fast digital.

It is hard work trying to take pictures of unsuspecting fashion-istas.

A wee bit like the paparazzi i guess..only i won't make $25,000.00 a photo.
I did the best i could without incurring the
wrath of some pissed off Czech girl.. I've seen it ...not pretty!

So, I will start with these 2 today...

These 2 gals were on the Charles Bridge.
It was the yellow Converse that caught me eye.
Obviously traveling around and looking good while doing it.
I like the stripe dress over the jeans.
I like the stripe trousers and yellow sneakers.
What can i say..it all worked for me.
Traveling that requires a lot of walking around....
AND looking stylish- hard to do!

This gal I saw the same day as we went to the pub....
The pink tights grabbed my attention right away!
I like how she looks girly but super
casual with the grey hoodie and white tee.
Very nice!

That is all for today..too many can be over whelming
and honestly kinda boring.

Ok, so last night I started working on the
jacket that I want to take with me to Prague.
2 weeks today!

This is my initial sketch...
ah... as you can tell i am NOT an artist!
But...it gets my point across.

This is my initial working pattern...

After 3 drafts this is what I have to use
as my final draft.

Ok, i started the front like this....
(sorry about the pink colour..it was all i had for
fitting fabric)

Then decided i wanted it shorter with a curved hem at the front.
And- i couldn't decide if i liked the small front
gathers or not. I eventually voted yes.

I can't decide on a Peter Pan collar or not..

This collar is too big.
I don't want it to be too cute...you know???
I want there to be a "retro" feel..not a 6 year old feel.

This is the back...

Now, i have to decide on the sleeve..

I finally finished my plaid
coat to take with me to Prague.
This is for when it is "cold" at night.
I am nutty for purple and red right now.
And- i am sounding like a broken
record with my luv of Peter Pan collars.

I know the plaids don't match in the back.
I was working with barely a meter
and a half.
I had to make some "tough" matching decisions.

My Mum found this piece
of wool in a thift store.
Lucky me!
For once, I am very happy
with what i made myself.

A New Weezi Bag

Hello Pussycats!
Here is one of many new Weezi bags to come.

I started this one almost a year ago..
i don't know why it took so long for me to finish
but it happens..i get stuck.
I didn't re-invent the wheel by any stretch!

But sometimes that creative feeling
is missing and it just looks like
boring tweed with no life in it.

Anyhow..i will take a better photo and put it on

I feel stuck between seasons.
I am so ready for spring..
but am not ready to give up sweaters.

Hence my new green sweater bag.

I feel myself still "clinging"
to the warmth and comfort of sweaters.
Physically AND mentally.

As much as I don't want to think about
another sweater until next October...
I am still drawn to them.
Old winters die hard or something like that...

Anyhow, i pleased with the green and yellow combo.
I like how my "wonky" shrunken flower turned out.
I think there is "renewal" sense to this shade of green.
You know..spring... re-birth..fresh start.
Yada, Yada!! Bring on flip flops and tank tops!

Finally a completed crochet project that
i can share with you....
without being embarrassed!
I am very pleased with this little felted bag...
I had to wash it twice to get it
good and tight and soft.
I plan on many more like this!
Doing this one was a lot of fun...
I will do stripes next time i think...

Anyhow...I am in this obsessive flower mode...
i don't know what is up with me but i
want to put flowers on everything!
And always in the bottom right hand corner.
I don't get it but for now
i will go with it.

Best Shoes i Found in a Long Time! And they Fit!

Ok, i was bad today.
I bought some new shoes...which usually
is not a crime b/c I buy cheap shoes.
I have a very short attention span....and
will be tired of my new shoes in a season
or two..so i buy cheap and often.
Well..feast you eyes on these lovelies!
I went to Payless today to look for
"sensible" walking shoes.
Milos and I are going back to Prague in May (yippee!!)
So, i needed them to be cream, cute, comfy and look good with spring skirts.
Well, needless to say they didn't have what i "needed"...BUT!
Yeow-za!!! I saw these from across the store in the size 5 section
and i thought i had died and gone to heaven.
No one EVER has cute shoes like this is size 5.
Always size 7 or 10!
And i am tellin' you the shoes fairies were
watching me today b/c thess fit like a glove!
No- insoles in these babies.

Ok... now the 2 biggest questions every gal has t0
ask herself when she buys shoes...
#1 Are they comforable??? Ah, no.
#2 Do they look fabulous??? Oh Yeh!!!
'Nuff said!

I wanted to share a couple new
Weezi bags that i made this weekend.

This is a Cream Sweater Bag made from a really nice
chunky sweater.
The lining is a yummy cotton with
chocolates printed on it. Sweet!

This is a Blue Wool Sweater Bag.
Like many other Weezi bags, it once
was a sweater made of 100% wool.
I shrunk the sweater and made this lovely bag.
The lining is a satin leopard print...Yeow pussycats!
Suede handles.
I am going to put these up on my web site
this week for $34.98 each.

Hiddy Ho Pussycats!
Well, March is in like a lion today...ice , snow and rain.
All the things that will keep me inside
and away from the fabric store.
I bought this fabulous jersey quite a while ago.
Finally today i got around
to sewing some of it into
tee shirts.
It still needs to be hemmed and
this is NOT a very good picture.
I will post a better pic when
i get them all done.
But- i was so thrilled with
it that i had to post a quick
picture.
I would love to make a kind
of dress out of this fabric...
but i don't know if it will be too much.
Anyhow..more later.
